The New River Water Trail®. Born from the 37 miles of New River which connects all major towns in Giles County, Va

Through the years as part of the Giles County Tourism Task Force and being a small business owner in Giles, we gathered with other locals to help build the NRWT. Showcasing all the businesses and natural resources Giles County has within paddle distance.

Along with developing a logo and website, we also reached out to Virginia Tourism Dept to have a new Virginia is for RIVER Lovers logo created. We now use that everywhere.

WCS also initiated contact with featured editor and paddle guru Natalie Warren of Wild River Academy to come and help us establish ourselves as “The Next Best Paddle Town” on Canoe and Kayak Magazine.

2025 NRWT New Map

New River Water Trail® Signage

New River Water Trail marketing and interpretation projects, including website enhancements, signage discussions, mapping support, brochure concepts, kiosk development, and content organization.

Marketing: Giles County led the way in marketing the New River as the New River Water Trail. Their efforts include brand development, a website, maps and ramp signage. Alisa Moody of Wild Country Studios has worked on the New River Water Trail since its advent and will continue working with the Expansion Project Team.

Ramp signage will be modified for the expansion and will reflect locality specific information, but the aesthetic will stay the same. Additionally, the logo will be updated to include each of the participating localities.

We developed the site based on the original 37 miles of New River which winds it’s way through Giles County, VA.

Working with a group of professionals within the New River Valley, North Carolina and West Virginia, we are now expanding the site to feature new maps, day trips and information about off water activities.
